In this instalment I look at how we used a Broncolor LED f160 in a 150 octobox to act as a soft top light, filming with ballerina Sophie Duncan.
This was motivated by the street lights in the car park, additionally I added another bounce to help soften the tippy shadows and bring the light around a little more.
When working with available light at night it is quite easy to create soft pockets to put more controlled/finessed lighting on your talent. Where things get more challenging is bring the level up over a larger area or on shots travelling through a location.
Something to be cautious of is adding too much light and destroying the ratio between any practicals in shot and your talent/lit area .
This video was shot as part of the launch film for the LED f160 so should be viewed as an advert for the product. It was a commercial project but I always like to be upfront about affiliations.
