While Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton are the primary protagonists of the 2021 season, the team principals of both teams have also been engaged in a rivalry of their own. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has now looked at the current title fight and has suggested that the person in Toto Wolff’s crosshairs has now changed while speaking on ServusTV Link to poll: /post/UgzHxq5kXDThdvzUqmp4AaABCQ 0:00 - Marko Points Out Change In Toto Wolff’s Target At Red Bull 1:19 - Fast Feed I'm your host Dillon Shelley and first up on Formula World: Marko Points Out Change In Toto Wolff’s Target At Red Bull Marko started off by revealing the mindset of the team prior to the two races on their home track “The atmosphere is relaxed and we are looking forward to the home Grand Prix. It's always something special and motivates again” He then explained why they have been successful in Austria in the past “We have always done well at Spielberg in the past. For some reason, the Honda turbo has always performed better here than the Mercedes one. We are looking forward to the weekends positively. Maybe we'll have five in a row soon” He also praised the team for putting a stop to Mercedes’ supremacy “We are a team where passion comes first. Now we manage to break the dominance of Mercedes, which was given by the engine” He signed off by explaining how Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has changed targets for his verbal attacks “Toto is now throwing himself at Christian Horner, previously I had the honour” Fast Feed Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has explained how when they have a good car “everything becomes that little bit easier and nicer to work with” “It’s completely different if you have a really good car, you think ‘okay this might be a risky move, should I really do it?' It’s all about points” Verstappen explained “You need to score every single weekend and of course sometimes that means second place is better than zero points” He also pointed out how “back in the day when [they] had a car where sometimes [they] could win a race, you had to go for it and take a risk to try and get that result” This is “because you knew at the next race you would not be that competitive again. So, it’s a different mindset” Max concluded “In terms of results, [McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo doesn't] give [himself] too high a grade. [He’d] rather not say what [he thinks] because then [he would] sound pretty dramatic!” “But there is definitely, definitely room for improvement. On a more positive note: [he gives himself] an A for [his] performance off the track” He further explained that “the results have nothing to do with [him] not trying. [He] definitely feel[s] like [he] put the necessary energy into it” “That will come out at a certain point and then [they] can show it. But on the track... well, [he doesn't] know. A five. And [he] definitely want[s] to improve that” Retired F1 driver turned pundit Martin Brundle doesn’t “agree that [Lewis] Hamilton was too soft when letting Verstappen by” in France “He was out of tyres and the pass was inevitable before the finish given the Red Bull's straight-line speed and DRS assistance” “In the same way that Verstappen wasn't super aggressive when Hamilton passed him in Budapest and Barcelona before in similar circumstances” Brundle added Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff feels that “after the disappointment of missing the win had faded, there were plenty of positives to take from France” He added that they “scored a good haul of points with P2 and P4 and the pace of the car was an encouraging step forward compared to Monaco and Baku” AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly feels that Austria is a “home circuit for all of [them] as a Red Bull team. A lot will be expected of Red Bull, from AlphaTauri and all the team’s partners” His teammate Yuki Tsunoda added that “for Qualifying, it’s going to be very tight, because it is such a short lap and very quick, so you have to put it all together to nail your lap and have a good result” Which team will secure pole in Austria?
