@coldhands28025 months agoYou forgot to mention that a black smith with 1 arm, Donal Noye, took out that giant. He's the same man that made Robert's Warhammer. He lost his arm during the siege of storms end. 494

@sebastiantrias15295 months agoOne of funniest moments in the battle was when Jon order Pyp and Grenn to take commend at one point and when they respond they said “him” and “me”.😂 232
@
@yurp74445 months agoThe 3 day book battle made the wall more immense. A sea of wildings(mixed with mammoths, and giants) against a small camp of black brothers(who hardly slept the entire time)…lasted for 3 days. 37

@
@samuelroach98095 months agoNgl, I read the books recently and prefered the battle in the show. I liked that Jon was fighting in the show and I thought Ygritte's death was more impactful in the show. 22
@
@Peanutjoepap245 months agoThe battle of the wall was a lot more drawn out in the books, a slow siege where Mance kept trying things. It’s a little more interesting but I think the show’s version is more epic since they put the wildling raid at the same time. In the book the raid just shows up and is quickly defeated before the stuff beyond the wall really gets going. ...106

@Chernobyl_Reactor45 months agoIn case someone is wondering, for what it is worth. Jon offered a surrender if they subscribed to the Night’s Watch YouTube channel and if they donated on Patreon. The things they do for cash. Also he offered a discount on his OF if they agreed to ceasefire. They wanted the Jussy. Yes, I hate myself for this comment as well. ...100

@FerretJohn4 months agoYeah, turned out trying to get past a 700 foot sheer wall wasn't that easy, only the Giants bows had the range to reach the top. 5

@chillphrog2 months agoSo many of the big battles in the show deserved more screen time. You’d be hyped when they first show everyone prepping themselves, and than it cuts away to the end of the battle with a bunch of corpses like bro, WE NEED THAT ACTION ...

@
@justdirt5 months agoThis is my favorite chapter in the books. Jon, with a broken leg near to passing out, has to defend the Wall against 100k people and dozens of giants with a few 100 new recruits and cripples. Setting up dolls with black cloaks to divert arrow fire, using everything, even the rocks they were standing on to try to fight back a horde. The battle starts at dusk and ends in the morning. Jon, after successfully repelling the initial attack, watches the sun rise and sees a wasteland of burnt ground and 100s of corpses. He then checks what happened below and then passes out from exhaustion and pain. This was also the first chapter where Satin is properly introduced. This is much more important to Jon's character than most readers think. Jon, after losing Ygritte, is torn up inside, but he knew the relationship was toxic. He is still coping with the fact that he was raped by her. And then a pretty faced boy a few years older than him shows up. Jon from the moment he sees Satin to the end of Dance comments on Satin in non straight ways constantly. It is confirmation to the reaction he had to Jaime at the very start of the books. Jon's crush on Satin is honestly the healthiest relationships in the whole series. Jon having a crush on a cute boy is a reminder he is still only 16. Jon is also softer around Satin and uses his power to elevate Satin to be his ward. Jon is a very cold character by book 5 and makes a lot of hard choices but his friends and Satin keep him grounded ...7

@psevdhome3 months agoThere is not a single scene in any of the show, that is better than the one in the books. This is a fact. Cersei and Robert's little chat is also bad, as Cersei is able to admit that their marriage is a mess. Book Cersei is too Narcissistic to admit anything is her fault. She drinks so much she goes fat, but blames her maids for shrinking her gowns. ...

@blackvarese31605 months agoHonestly, sometimes The TV show doesn't do good describing or showing things. But I think the battle of the wall was pretty good. Because let's be real 3 days A fighting doesn't seem believable. With the number of wild wings they own, they should have been overthrown that wall the second day lol ...6

@michaeltanori69825 months agoThe reason why the battle was so epic in the books. HBO had a budget that they couldn't afford cuz they're cheap. 4

@andrewvincent72992 months agoIt was still great in the show. Everything flowed perfectly and made complete sense within what was going on. The music was great and the suspense was out of this world. In my opinion, this was the best battle done on the show. Definitely better than Battle of the Bastards which in my opinion sucked and went full on Hollywood spectacle with logic thrown out the window. ...

2 months agoIt lasted no more than a week. But in the end I think George RR Martin deserves as much. I saw GOT, and I've read almost 3.200 pages, and at asoc I'm starting to feel disappointed nd angry I'm going to read the next 2.000 pages just to end on a cheap cliffhanger that has lasted 12 years. In the history of universal literature. Marting will be loved or hated no middle step. I guess Georgie has to be a bit worried. He could be remembered as the writer who abandoned his work before he had to prove it's worth. Don't get me wrong: Asoiaf is great because it's still being created; but if it is left unfinished will be just a complete failure. This is an ambitious work... or a fool's errand. ...
